Male Vasectomy: How to do it? Does it really hurt?

You want to take your husband to get a vasectomy, but your husband is afraid of getting hurt or sexual dysfunction? Are all of these ever going to happen? First of all, let’s understand male vasectomy.

Male Vasectomy: How to do it? Does it really hurt?

Vasectomy is a permanent form of birth control that involves tying and cutting the vas deferens to prevent sperm from moving from the testicles when ejaculating. The testicles are still producing sperm. Only when semen is ejaculated, there will be no sperm coming out to fertilize with the egg.

There are two methods of male vasectomy surgery:

  1. Use a knife to cut open the scrotum skin above the vas deferens. Then tie and cut both sides of the sperm ducts, and sew the cut skin closed, which is the traditional method.
  2. Use a tool to pierce the skin to find the vas deferens. Then, pull them up to tie and cut the sperm passageway. The wound will be smaller than the first method. Therefore, the stitching is not required. It is a popular method nowadays.

Male Vasectomy is considered a minor surgery. It doesn’t take long. The wound will be small, about 1 centimeter. So, there is no need to worry about the surgery. Because the doctor will inject anesthetic into the scrotum area to make the patient forget about the pain for a while.

So, does it really hurt?

After the surgery, there may be only slight pain in the wound area. Just wait 1-3 days and the wound will heal normally.

After the surgery, will the sexual performance decrease or not?

The answer is no. It does not cause sexual performance to deteriorate. Because male vasectomy is only a kind of birth control that does not allow sperm to escape, but hormones and arousal, sexual desire still remain the same. Therefore, it does not affect sexual performance.

After vasectomy surgery, a man will not be immediately sterile because there is still sperm remaining. Therefore, during this time, there is still a risk of pregnancy. It is recommended to have sex 1-3 months after the surgery.
